What Are The Calendar of Services?
Every lawn has birth, seasonal, annual, and end-of-life cycles. It begins as a seed, then grows, and eventually gets replaced with new seeds or sod. In between those stages, your landscape company must perform scheduled services throughout the year to prevent turf loss.
Regardless of the species of grass, each service is necessary. Depending on the grass type will determine what is needed and the correct time the service must take place. Here is the calendar of services in no particular order:

What Is Each Calendar Of Service’s Breakdown?
Mowing – Used during the growing season to keep the grass blades healthy and at the correct height. Cut heights range from ¾ to 1 ½ inch tall based on turf species.
Watering – Applied during favorable growing conditions. The objective is to keep the soil moist to a depth of 6 inches and watering no more than twice a week.
Liming – Used to neutralize the soil acid when it becomes too acidic. The time to apply lime is after the soil gets tested, and what the report’s test results indicate.
Fertilizing – Applied to meet the annual nutrient requirements of an irrigated lawn. Fertilizers support plant growth coming out of and preparing for upcoming winter dormancy.
Dethatching – Unrestricting the movement of water and air into the soil, resulting in strengthening lawn growth. Recommended service in May, June, and July for lawn recovery.
Core Aerifying – The process removes small plant and soil plugs, creating aeration channels. It improves the oxygen level due to compacted soil.
Rolling – Used after a core aerifying process to correct minor surface deformities. Rolling moves the soil to vertical aeration channels eliminating further soil compaction.
Weed Control – Using herbicides for preemergence and postemergence types of weed growth. Depending on the grass species and time of year, some herbicides do get mixed with fertilizers.
Disease Control – Inspecting for fungi in soils with known pathogens capable of causing disease. Also needed is proper mowing, reducing thatch build-up, and improving soil drainage.
Insect Control – Applying the proper insecticide as the grub population reaches the threshold target. Early detection and correct insect pest identification help control an insect problem.
